Liang Hai is replacing Rick McGowan as the vice-chair.

Meetings since the last report: November 22, December 6, December 20, January 17.

Source control

The private “charts” repo is currently accessible to a few other sibling WGs: Release Management (all members), Script Encoding (chairs), Properties & Algorithms (admins), and Editorial (chairs).

Notable progress:

• The repo is getting more integrated into Michel’s font management.
• A GitHub workflow has been set up to automatically validate the relationship between what’s specified in the CFL files (Unibook font config) and the actual font files.
• The source files of FontResource.exe, a CLI utility for temporarily installing fonts, have been moved into the repo.

We expect to integrate the French code chart source files (still waiting for the 16.0 source) into the repo.

17.0 alpha review

Source files in the private “charts” repo are ready for alpha except potential changes from this UTC, now using the pre-alpha UCD snapshot published at https://unicode.org/Public/draft/.

The private “representative-glyphs” repo has also been updated to pre-alpha on December 28, which now supports the private “core-spec” repo’s alpha preparation.

After this UTC, Michel will produce the alpha charts (the single archival and delta charts) as usual. As an exercise, Jan and Liang will reproduce the charts internally from the same source files, and compare the results.
