Currency symbols bad for en-AU since CLDR 28

Reported by: ksoldau@… Owned by: anybody
Component: currency Data Locale: en-AU
Phase: dsub Review:
Weeks: Data Xpath:

Many of the currency symbols for en-AU locale were changed from symbols to currency codes in CLDR 28. Example: the Euro changed from € to EUR, the British Pound changed from £ to GBP, and US Dollars changed from US$ to USD. The delta can be found at this url: http://www.unicode.org/cldr/charts/28/delta/en.html

I do not understand why these changed were made for en-AU, when other en- locales seem unaffected. For example, en-NZ still has the US Dollars symbol as US$, the British Pound symbol as £, and the Euro symbol as €.

I'm not sure where the problem stems from, but I think the currency symbols for en-AU were messed up when changing to CLDR 28.

Whoever reads this, if you could email me and tell me why en-AU currency symbols are now almost all just three letter country codes, it would be greatly appreciated!
