Issues with the local Bangla (Bangladesh)

Reported by: nasir8891@… Owned by: kristi
Component: fix-in-survey-tool Data Locale: bn-BD
Phase: dsub Review:
Weeks: Data Xpath:

I would like to contribute for Bangla (Bangladesh) and created an account. But while i opened the language (http://st.unicode.org/cldr-apps/v#/bn_BD//) i found the following message "This locale, Bangla (Bangladesh) is the default content locale for Bangla, and thus editing or viewing is disabled."
So is there any to contribute in bn-BD?

I have a question about the Locale name. The name is Bangla (Bangladesh) but as far as i know the name of the language is Bengali (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengali_language). Could you please look into this issue?

  1. bn is the locale to edit for bn_BD content. (Note that we were only doing limited locales during this release, anyway, but for next time)
  1. We have at various times received information that the preferred English name for 'bn' is Bangla. Once submission opens up again, you can discuss this on the forum.

Click on Bangla to work. See Information Hub: http://cldr.unicode.org/translation and get familiar with the Survey Tool guide (link at the top of the Information hub): http://cldr.unicode.org/index/survey-tool/guide
