Hi, I work for LG Electronics. We use CLDR data for developing a platform. and We've got some locale data change feedback through the LG local office.
I create some tickets to report here. I want to discuss if those are acceptable to CLDR.

TWD "New Taiwan Dollar" currency symbol has to be changed as below:

"sign": "NT$"

  • Owner changed from anybody to kristi
  • Priority changed from assess to medium
  • Status changed from new to accepted
  • Component changed from numbers to currency
  • Milestone changed from UNSCH to 35

We had previously received information that "$" was more common than "NT$". Will investigate further for next release. We have people voting for "$" only in this release.

Per our inhouse zh_Hant linguist, $ is more common than NT$.

NT$ and $ are both in use.
Agree that $ is more commonly used.

However official currency related sites use NT$. For example:
https://www.bot.com.tw/English/FinKB/Pages/default.aspx - Bank of Taiwan site
https://www.xe.com/currency/twd-taiwan-new-dollar - This info is also based on Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan)
