Pashto ► ps-variant: precision needed

Description

I’m unable to determine what language “Pashto ► ps-variant” refers to. No hints are provided by spelling differences, either English or French. Searching the Unicode website for "pashto variant" brings no qualified result. I’ve looked up English and French Wikipedia and need to know how the variants listed there (hard, soft) match with what CLDR implies and takes for granted.
Thanks for any hints.

Those variants are for cases where there is a secondary spelling of a given word. We should make this clear on the website so assigning for that.

Thanks for explanation. Now it’s clear to me that this is what “Pushto” vs “Pashto” insinuates, and likewise in French, “Pashto” vs “Pachto”. One could figure out replacing this with “Variant Pashto”, “Pashto (variant)”, “Pashto alternate” or something like that.

Beside this, is there a need to account for what Wikipedia refers to: “Pashto has two main dialect groups, "soft" and "hard", the latter locally known as Pakhto or Paxto.”
