Description

This is a suggestion to include the character (when defined) for various currencies ($, £, € and so forth).

This may be difficult if the characters in question are generally missing from Unicode, of course. However, many currencies may use the same symbol (e.g., $ whether U.S. or Australian) but currencies with the same name do not necessarily have the same symbol (e.g., ₨ vs. ₹ are both "rupees").

We use currency symbols on public-facing commerce sites, in addition to standard three-letter symbols - the latter for disambiguation, the former for familiarity (when users look for the price, they look for the ¥ to catch their eye).

Attached is the mapping we currently use, but we can make no claim about its authority; the list has accreted over time, and many we have not yet used (but we're ready if asked!) so they haven't been checked by users.
