Description

Pashto (ps) data for quarters is in English. Here's the data that seems to be copied from root:

			<field type="quarter">
				<displayName>Quarter</displayName>
				<relative type="-1">last quarter</relative>
				<relative type="0">this quarter</relative>
				<relative type="1">next quarter</relative>
				<relativeTime type="future">
					<relativeTimePattern count="one">+{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
					<relativeTimePattern count="other">+{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
				</relativeTime>
				<relativeTime type="past">
					<relativeTimePattern count="one">-{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
					<relativeTimePattern count="other">-{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
				</relativeTime>
			</field>
			<field type="quarter-short">
				<displayName>Quarter</displayName>
				<relativeTime type="future">
					<relativeTimePattern count="one">+{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
					<relativeTimePattern count="other">+{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
				</relativeTime>
				<relativeTime type="past">
					<relativeTimePattern count="one">-{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
					<relativeTimePattern count="other">-{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
				</relativeTime>
			</field>
			<field type="quarter-narrow">
				<displayName>Quarter</displayName>
				<relativeTime type="future">
					<relativeTimePattern count="one">+{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
					<relativeTimePattern count="other">+{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
				</relativeTime>
				<relativeTime type="past">
					<relativeTimePattern count="one">-{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
					<relativeTimePattern count="other">-{0} Q</relativeTimePattern>
				</relativeTime>
			</field>

It should be removed.

  • Milestone changed from to-assess to assessed

We should see if we have a contact who can get this data. Suggest assigning as medium for 35-optional to Kristi, Fredrik or Meike depending on who has a contact. If no contact we can resolve as fix-in-survey-tool.

In 35 just remove the data.

Need more info about this in translation hub for linguists.

Found a few more copies from English/root in fields data for Pashto. Removing those too.

This is very widespread in Pashto. Removing a lot of things that are clearly copied from root that are definitely different in Pashto. Keeping short and abbreviated units, although I'm pretty confident some of those are also in error.

  1. Removing will be flagged as "missing". So, the question is do we have Pahto vetters engaged in v35 to do this additional work?
  2. For "Quarters". one suggestion would be to describe it as "three-month period" rather than “quarter-of-a-year” concept.

Well, the survey tool restored all the English back, so redoing. Answering Kristi:

  1. Apparently not. Still, it's better for these to be missing instead of being in English. There would be some inheritance from root and we would know that we actually don't have the data, as opposed to thinking we have usable data.
  2. I agree. Depends on the cultures of the region and the country.
