We have gone back and forward with Monday vs Sunday for both the UK and IE for
some time. It appears that many sources have Sunday as the first day on
Calendars. We need to see a survey of sources to get a good sense of the best
choice.

What is used in Northern Ireland/Ulster (a small part of UK, where Southern Great Britain, i.e. England and Wales, generally rules the norm) is independant of what is used unambiguously in Eire.

Unfortunately the situation is not clear in Northern Ireland (as well as in Scotland) be cause we meet the split between Catholic and Protestant traditions. This will also vary according to job conditions (whever people work or don't work on Sundays, and how when they get paid or taxed legally for these jobs or for commercial contracts and billings).

Leaving the religious considerations, the solution must be within the fiscal code for each area, unless this code allows organizations to choose their job payment and tax reporting schedules within some margins (in which case there will be two variants in these locales, and which one should be the default will repain an open question solved only by looking for most common practices).

I checked several public transportation sites in Ireland. Some of them have calendar widget.

Stena Line (Ferry) - http://www.stenaline.ie/ferry/
Irish Ferry (Ferry) - http://www.irishferries.co.uk/
Irish Citylink (Bus) - http://www.citylink.ie/
Translink (Bus/Train) - http://www.translink.co.uk/
Aircoach (Bus) - http://www.aircoach.ie/

I found one exception, using Sunday as the first day so far -

GoBus.ie (Bus) - http://www.gobus.ie/

I'm not sure this is intended or not.

It looks Monday as the first day of week is dominant in Ireland.

It was a mistake to do this. It was also the decision of the relevant NSAI committee, conveyed to the CLDR by its Irish representative Séamus Ó Ciardhuáin. I have no idea who Yoshito is, but he had no business changing this on the basis of a bunch of dodgy calendar widgets and certainly not without contacting Irish representatives to Unicode.

Change the first day of the week back to Sunday, as we have *specified*. Thank you.
