[Survey tool performance] Cache, gzip, connections

Reported by: federicoleva@… Owned by: srl
Component: survey Data Locale:
Phase: dsub Review:
Weeks: Data Xpath:
Xref:

Description

Sorry if I state the obvious, but http://www.webpagetest.org/result/140629_PT_8J1/1/details/ shows a lot of low-hanging opportunities for server-side performance improvements. However I'm not a coder, forgive me if I oversimplify.

Can more JS have max-age or expires and be compressed? Most of the time seems to be spent in latency and 128 connections seem a lot, how hard would it be to enable SPDY? Sometimes/often, it "just works".

Caching is partly covered by http://unicode.org/cldr/trac/ticket/6279 I guess

Never heard of SPDY, looks to be pretty recent.

Caching is difficult because the clients already hang on to JavaScript too long and changes don't get propagated.
However thanks for the report I will look at it and probably merge the ticket in
