Consistency of terminology in French

Description

I would very much like us to come to an agreement for the term for "daylight savings time" in French, between:

heure avancée ( the existing form - Google voted for)

and

heure d’été ( which Apple voted for every time ).

Because of new items, now we have both forms scattered about, and we should try to drive consistency on this.

From our French vetter:
===
We did use "heure avancée" in past CLDRs but it is actually seldom used in France. "Heure avancée" is for French Canada. I personally would have not known that "heure avancée" and "heure d’été" are the same.

French Dictionaries:

  • Le Petit Robert: "heure d’été" (fr-FR) / "heure avancée" (fr-CA)
  • Larousse: "heure d’été"
  • Antidote: "heure d’été" (fr-FR) / "heure avancée" (fr-CA)

Official sources use "heure d’été" [French Parliament - "Should we stop using 'daylight savings time' "]:
http://www.senat.fr/rap/r96-13/r96-13_mono.html
or French Governmental website - "Switching to 'daylight savings time' "
http://www.service-public.fr/actualites/00506.html

Google also returns:

  • 691 000 results for "heure d’été" site:.fr
  • 50 700 results for "heure avancée" site:.fr

If we want to address French speakers outside of French Canada, "heure d’été" should be used.

From our French Canadian contact:

"Heure avancée" is indeed only FR-CA (it is on the GDT and specified on Termium). We do understand "heure d'été," but it is not as widely used.
