Description

http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr35/tr35-general.html#Measurement_System_Data
"The "UK" value indicates the customary system of measurement as used in the United Kingdom..."
but the data is just

<measurementData>
  <measurementSystem type="metric" territories="001"/>
  <measurementSystem type="US" territories="LR MM US"/>

I expect type="UK" for at least territories="GB" if not also some surrounding regions.

So the "UK"measurement system can refer to one or both of two things:
• Use of imperial units, which are different in some cases than the customary US units. For example an imperial gallon is different than a US gallon.
• The particular mix of metric and imperial units used in the UK, in which (for example) road-related measurements use miles and yards, certain beverages are sold by the pint, while many other measurements are often in metric.

In any case, it does not seem that "UK" measurement would apply to Ireland for example, which is much more metric. Also Canada and Australia seem to be more metric-oriented than GB is. I don't have good info for Isle of Man and Jersey. So for now "UK" just applies to GB.
