CLDR Ticket #9850(closed: fixed)

Earlier date format fix in en_AU.xml was overwritten

Reported by: nrunge@… Owned by: pedberg
Component: datetime Data Locale: en_AU
Phase: final Review: kristi

Change set 12185 (http://unicode.org/cldr/trac/changeset/12185) fixed issue http://unicode.org/cldr/trac/ticket/9045 in en_AU date format ("...MMM,y" to "...MMM y"). This fix then was overwritten again in change set 12740 (http://unicode.org/cldr/trac/changeset/12740).

It is a rather unsightly date-time format error and needs attention.

There was a fix needed here.

The changes for r12185 noted above were:

  • change "dMMM[M]" in patterns to be "d MMM[M]"
  • change "[M]MMM,y" in patterns to be "[M]MMM y"

The changes in r12740 mostly did not undo that, except for one case, where in Gregorian availableFormats:

# en_001 (the parent locale) has this
<dateFormatItem id="yMMMEd">E, d MMM y</dateFormatItem>
# and en_AU added this to override the above, undoing one of the changes in r12185:
<dateFormatItem id="yMMMEd">E, d MMM,y</dateFormatItem>

But that added format with comma instead of space is completely inconsistent with all other date formats in en_AU (mostly inherited from en_001) which use space in that case. So I just removed the oddball override in en_AU.
