Hi,
I'm wondering if anybody could provide advice on a very specific problem that I'm encountering with character mapping for graphic arts.
What I am finding is that some fonts, either through manual alteration by a third party, file corruption or other means, have characters which do not correctly correspond with the unicode tables.
For example in one of the Futura fonts, when text was copied in from a source document the "ý" character in the original document changed to a "," when the information was placed into the editing software. Yet the unicode tag underneath the character was still 00FD which is correct for "ý".
This seems to be a problem with specific fonts not complying correctly with Unicode.
Are there any possibilities for preventing this? So far, the only method that I can think of is to visually check each font's characters against a "reference" font known to have the correct character mapping. This however is virtually impossible as there would be hundreds of fonts to check, and each may have thousands of characters available.
Any advice or comments would be much appreciated, Regards David

The question leaves out information needed to discover / verify the problem. What software is used to manipulate the text?
