Dr. Vettakkorumakankavu Sitaram UMAmaheswaran (alias Uma) is a Senior Development Analyst at the National Language Technical Centre, IBM Toronto Laboratory, Toronto, Canada. He joined IBM in 1983. He is the IBM Standards Project Authority for Coded Character Sets and he represents IBM in many standardization groups dealing with Internationalization including the Unicode Technical Committee, the NCITS L2 Committee, CEN Workshops related to Internationalization, and the w3c Internationalization working group. He has been the chair of Canadian Advisory Committee for JTC1/SC2 since 1983, and actively participates in the work of ISO/IEC JTC 1/ SC2 and its working groups as a Canadian accredited expert. Dr. Uma received his Doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1973. |
