Abstract

Target Audience: Manager, Software Engineer, Systems Analyst, Marketer

Level of Session: Intermediate, Advanced

Unicode Version 2.0 appeared in July, 1996. Since then, the explosion of Web content and technology has pushed Unicode into the forefront of software development. Unicode 3.0 adds many thousands of new characters, covering all parts of the globe. The new book extends and clarifies both the conformance and informational material from version 2.0. This talk reviews the new blocks of characters, discusses the semantic refinements to the standard, and points out the hot-spots: edge-cases that all programmers need to watch out for.
