Mr. Robert Cain as a US Marine attended the Defense Language Institute for Russian language training, 1968-69. He was graduated from the University of Iowa 1976 Phi Beta Kappa, in Russian language and area studies, and continued his studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in Russian language and linguistics 1977-78. He reentered U.S. Government service in 1980, and began work in Russian machine translation in 1981. Mr. Cain has been active in the sponsorship and development of Japanese and Farsi machine translation systems and cross-language information retrieval systems. He is currently at the Foreign Broadcast Information Systems, and chairs the Foreign Language Committee subcommittee on Language Processing Technology. |
