Elaine Renee Keown - Independent Researcher in Computational Semitics, Philadelphia
Elaine studied Romance languages and linguistics at the University of Illinois. Afterwards
she discovered that she was far more interested in Semitic languages and in computers.
During the last 10 years Elaine studied Hebrew and then Aramaic at Harvard Divinity and at
Westminster Seminary, lived in the Middle East twice, and then came to Philadelphia to
do research on computerizing Hebrew better. She is interested in working with better
databases for Semitic languages. Now she is looking at collation and electronic manuscript
representation issues.
