Intended Audience: All
Session Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced

This discussion will focus on standards relevant to the language technology industry and to the U.S. government. The discussion will start with a presentation by Mr. Glenn Nordin on why the U.S. government is interested in these standards and in standards certification (e.g., the certification for TMX), and why such efforts are important and useful for industry doing business with the government. We will then discuss Unicode, ISO language codes, TMX, TBX, TMF, LBX, and ISLE, including the status of the standards, the issues, and what remains to be done to meet U.S. government requirements.
