I wasn't clear on the nature of the question, so here goes on a different
interpretation. Unitype Global Writer has an option to show the hex Unicode
value for any selected character, or a character next to the cursor (to the
left, if there is one). I don't know about any other software that does
this. I would personally like to see a hex/Unicode editor along lines
similar to hex/ASCII editors. Hedit for Windows shows integer values
(8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit, IIRC) and float values (single and double) in
either little-endian or big-endian.
