select arabic, and select an encoding different from utf-8 (bottom right-hand
corner):

characters that are not in the selected encoding become \uxxxx.
if you can give us the necessary data for additional locales, then we can work
on getting them in.
note that icu is an open-source project - come on board!

I'd like to see this with Indic & Arabic characters and corresponding
locales added. Even if you cant display the scripts properly just
characters or their encoding values would do.
