For the record, I'm a big fan of scholarly communities and enjoy developing
fonts for them, and apart from being 6'2 I am generally considered a 'small
typographer'. I'm not an amateur, however, so while I might not charge a
group of scholars what I might charge a giant software developer, I try not
to work for free more than one day per week.
