    But there is: it is U+0066 U+006A. The rendering of the ligature is
    left to the font. The precomposed fi and fl ligatures were encoded
    for compatibility with (at least) Apple's Mac Roman character set; I
    suspect that the iso-pub character set had no commercial
    implementations Way Back When those compatibility characters were
    added. And I suspect that there won't be much argument for the
    addition of an fj ligature compatibility character at present either.
