    I'm afraid there is no objective answer.

    Some people believe BOM in UTF-8 is a good idea because it makes
    easier to autodetect file format (mostly people coming from Windows).

    Some believe it should never be used because it breaks text file
    formats and makes the encoding stateful (mostly coming from Unix).
