Dear List,
I wish to call your attention to a useful resource for Unicode fonts for
various South Asian languages, developed as part of the South Asia
Language Resource Center (University of Chicago):
http://salrc.uchicago.edu/resources/fonts/main.html.
Note that there is another project, Digital Dictionaries of South Asia,
http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/, which allows display and
searching entries in various South Asian dictionaries using Unicode.
FYI: These two projects are related to a bigger collaborative project,
the Digital South Asia Library (http://dsal.uchicago.edu/index.html),
which makes digital materials freely available, such as:
* Digitized newspapers, journals, general books, and pedagogical
materials (including primers on Urdu, Bengali, Telegu, Oriya, and a book
on Grantha): http://dsal.uchicago.edu/books/index.html
* Statistics relating to British India:
http://dsal.uchicago.edu/statistics/index.html
* Maps from the Imperial Gazeteer:
http://dsal.uchicago.edu/maps/gazetteer/index.html
* Searchable image database: http://dsal.uchicago.edu/images/index.html
With best wishes,
Deborah Anderson
