Probably since the beginning of attempts to write about Ethiopic in
western literature. Certainly since 1661 in Hiob Ludolf's "Grammaticae
Aethiopicae" where a rotated "ja" (U+1303) appears in a syllabary table.
Within the last few years I've also encountered full lines of text
published in mirror image. So its nothing new.
Can you provide please the citation for the reference where you
found the publishing error?
