I am well aware that most Christians are not opposed to evolution.
The Roman Catholic Church, among other denominations, accepts
evolution. It is, however, perfectly correct to refer to
"Christian antievolutionism" to describe the anti-evolutionary
stance of those Christians who do oppose evolution on religious
grounds. As you say, this is mostly an issue in the United States,
but it is becoming an issue in some other countries where fundamentalist
Christianity is spreading, e.g. in Kenya (http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2006/sep/10/theobserver.kenya).
