Systems of interlinear annotations?

    I am trying to gather information about the various systems of
    interlinear annotations across the world. Clearly, ruby in Japanese is
    one use, and we have recently seen uses for Vedic. I seem to remember
    some use was mentioned when ancient Greek was added to Unicode (I'll
    dig in the docs). Others?

    Rough pointers are enough, I'll be happy to research the details and
    summarize.
