• The meeting will take place in conference room Saturn in Building 1. Signs will be posted in the main lobby.

• Make sure you claim your badge at Building 1 reception desk. It will allow you to move freely on campus.

ACCOMODATION

Participants are free to book their own rooms at their preferred hotels. However, the Unicode Consortium has blocked 15 rooms at the following hotel for the rate of $125(+10% tax)/night – single or double occupancy:

This hotel is located 30 miles south of San Francisco Airport, 10 miles north of San Jose Airport and less than 1 mile south of the Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus.

TRANSPORTATION

From airport to hotel:

• All major rental companies have offices at San Francisco and San Jose airports

• Door to door shuttle buses are also available at both airports and cost $28/person from SFO to Mountain View and $25/person from San Jose to Mountain View (companions pay $10 each)

• Taxis will run approximately $75 from SFO to hotel and $35 from San Jose to hotel

From hotel to Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus:

The hotel is located less than 1 mile from the meeting place at Microsoft SVC. Taxis can be arranged through the hotel reception and should not cost more than $8.00 per trip

DIRECTIONS 

From airport to hotel:

• From San Francisco Airport take 101 South

• From San Jose Airport, take 101 North

• Exit Moffet Boulevard towards Mountain View

• At the light, turn Left on Leong Drive

• Turn Right on Fairchild

From hotel to Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus:

• Make a Left on Fairchild when exiting the hotel

• Turn Left on Leong Drive

• At the light, turn Right into Moffett Boulevard

• Take the 101 North and take the first exit Shoreline Boulevard

• At the light, cross Shoreline Blvd. directly onto L'Avenida and continue for approximately ½ mile

• Turn Right onto the Microsoft main entrance parking lot. You will be facing Building 1 as you pull into the parkway.

OR (to avoid morning traffic on highway 101)

• Make a Left on Fairchild when exiting the hotel

• Turn Left on Leong Drive

• At the light, turn Left into Moffett Boulevard

• At the light, make a Right into Middlefield

• Make another Right into Shoreline

• Go straight on Shoreline

•  After crossing the overpass make a Right on L'Avenida and continue for approximately ½ mile

• Turn Right onto the Microsoft main entrance parking lot. You will be facing Building 1 as you pull into the parkway.

In an effort to offer to the WG2 participants a chance to enjoy the California weather and breathtaking coastal scenery, The Unicode Consortium will organize:

A full day excursion to Monterey, Bay Aquarium and Carmel on Friday April 6, 2001 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (times are approximate)

Please note that this excursion will replace the dinner previously scheduled for Wednesday April 4, 2001 which has now been cancelled. We apologize for the inconvenience.
