Document L2/04-358 proposes the encoding of three new characters for the Gujarati script.
Those three characters are actually fractions: PAO is a 1/4 fraction, ADDHO is a 1/2 fraction, and PONO is a 3/4 fraction.
The illustration of these characters is an advertizement for movie theaters, and the fraction characters are used to represent 15, 30, or 45 minutes after the hour; i.e. the times shown are 12:45, 3:45, 7:45 and 9:45 for the PONO example; 12:15, 3:15, 7:15 and 9:15 for the PAO examples; 3:30, 7:30 and 9:30 for the ADDHO examples.
These characters are also used to write other quantities than time.
