Minutes of the NCITS/L2 meeting # 174
July 29-31, 1998, Redmond
Technical discussions, see minutes, action items, and motions for details.
Welcome to Judith Lundberg, Orient Foundation - we appreciate her participation and hope that she can get her organization to join the relevant NBs to promote the standards needed according to the organizations goal.
NCITS has awarded the NCITS Merit Award to Ed Hart. I want to thank anybody who supported this nomination. Ed deserves it.
NCITS has chosen John Hill (AMP) as the liaison to L2. Hill will participate in one of our meetings in the near future.
We are now 16 members. SGI has joined again. For the moment, Digital is now Compaq - I have no indication for the future. Apple, Compaq, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Novell, , Oracle, Progress, RLG, Reuters, Share, SGI, Sybase, Sun, Unicode, Unisys.
Apple changes alternate from Edberg to McGowan.
Progress Software would be in jeopardy, I ask L2 to allow Tex to be absent this time without getting into jeopardy. OK by L2.
Apple, HP, IBM, Microsoft, Novell, RLG, Sybase, Sun, Unicode, Unisys. Ballot answers from Oracle, Progress Software, Reuters.

Winkler, Michel, Whistler, Joan, Mike as convener, Freytag as Unicode liaison. Add Honomichl
Winkler, same, + Ksar, add Honomichl
Winkler - I need more support - Whistler
Yes, with the following caveat: The latest ISO 646 IRV could have a cover sheet that makes it the US standard.
The US requirement is the IRV as defined in ISO 646:1991.
Yes
Winkler will be there as WG20 delegate. Ensure discussion of process over content in this meeting - it is important to specify, how the different groups in the new TD will work together (liaisons, common meetings, no overlap in work items, …)
All motions from the common UTC/L2 meeting were approved unanimously.
