Internationalized Domain Names

Grapheme Joiner

[84-M10] Motion: The UTC accepts the COMBINING GRAPHEME JOINER with a suggested code point assignment of U+0363. The COMBINING GRAPHEME JOINER will be used to indicate that the adjacent character(s) are part of a single grapheme in terms of grapheme production. It will behave in general like a virama and for line breaking, it will behave like a glue character. It will be a combining mark with a canonical class of zero. The UTC discourages its use for graphical effects, such as for circled numbers. [L2/00-156]

[84-C3] Consensus: The UTC agrees in principle with adding new characters to support Komi Cyrillic, but thinks there needs to be further opportunity for review. The UTC also would like to see the three columns at 0500, 0510, and 0520 used for encoding additional Cyrillic characters. [L2/00-182]

[84-M16] Motion: Communicate to the W3C that math alphanumerics encoded in Plane 1 can be used as data in markup languages; there is no consensus at UTC as to whether the math alphanumerics should be used in tags and attributes. Furthermore, NL, LS, and PS should all be treated the same as CR and LF in parsing documents.
