Summary

This document is the latest snapshot of the roadmap documents that has been presented to and adopted by WG 2 (ISO/IEC JTC1/SC2/WG 2). Four tables containing the roadmaps to

• the Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP - Plane 0) (version bmp-4-16, 2005-09-19)
• the Supplementary Multilingual Plane (SMP - Plane 1) (version smp-4-14, 2005-09-17)
• the Supplementary Ideographic Plane (SIP - Plane 2) (version sip-4-3, 2005-06-27), and
• the Supplementary Special-purpose Plane (SSP - Plane 14) (version ssp-4-2, 2005-06-27)

The Roadmap ad hoc group maintains and updates the roadmaps as a service to the UTC (Unicode Technical Committee) and to ISO/IEC JTC1/SC2/WG2. The latest working version of the roadmaps can be found at http://www.unicode.org/roadmaps. This document is informative. Please send corrigenda and other comments to the authors using the online contact form.

Presentation conventions

• Published:
  Bold text indicates an allocated (that is, published) character collection. There is a link to the corresponding chart on the Unicode web site.
  Note: For the CJK Unified ideographs in the BMP, the Unicode standards uses a single-column presentation. The multi-column presentation is available only in the published ISO/IEC 10646 standard and its amendments, available for purchase from ISO or various national standards organizations.
• Accepted for inclusion:
  (Bold text between parentheses) indicates scripts which have been formally accepted by UTC or WG 2 for processing toward inclusion in the standard. There is generally a link to a mature proposal for the script.
• Under consideration:
  (Text between parentheses) indicates scripts for which proposals have been formally submitted to the UTC or to WG 2. There is generally a link to the formal proposal.
• Exploratory:
  ¿Text between question marks? indicates scripts for which detailed proposals have not yet been written. There may be a link to an exploratory code table.
• Open:
  ??? in a block indicates that no suggestion has been made regarding the block allocation.

NOTE: When scripts are actually proposed to UTC or to WG 2, the practice is to "front" them in the zones to which they are tentatively allocated, and to adjust the block size with regard to the allocation proposed.

NOTE: As far as possible, half-row (128) and surrogate block (4096) boundaries are observed in planning. This means that scripts do not cross these boundaries where possible.
