From ICU 63 exhaustive tests: Bad symbols for NaN in sv and ksh locales:

    <nan [draft="contributed"]>¤¤¤</nan>

Causes problems for currency parsing, as you might expect.

kl also uses ¤¤¤.

os is also clearly wrong ("HH").

Also true in se, see https://www.unicode.org/cldr/charts/latest/by_type/numbers.symbols.html#2a6d0c1f1e7b8075.
And this has been going on for along time, at least since CLDR 24; and in CLDR 27 and earlier, locale fo also had this problem.

The best solution is to use the root/en value "NaN" for now, until we have another CLDR data collection round. This is the value used in most locales anyway.

Replying to roozbeh:

os is also clearly wrong ("HH").

Why is that clearly wrong? Various locales have various 2-letter symbols like this for nan, for example:

  • ast: ND
  • lv: NS
  • to: TF

My bad on Ossetian (os). I thought these were Latin 'h's, instead of Cyrillic 'н's.
