Person Names in the Real World
This session will take a look at the new CLDR Person Name data and guidelines and take a look at the basics for how it can be used to format name data, and then will deep-dive into many edge cases and how application and data design will be important to. Some issues some have asked that we’ll take a look at: “I have two given names, but always go by my second name”, “I need to handle Japanese Kanji, kana, and romaji name entry and display”, “how do I handle name declensions in Baltic languages?”
We’ll finish by taking a look at some of the proposed enhancements in the backlog.
