Hello all,
I'd appreciate any comments readers of this list might care to
make on my proposal to include Western Music Symbols in Unicode.
A description of the character set with illustrations and
justification for inclusion can be found at
http://www.lib.virginia.edu/dmmc/Music/UnicodeMusic or as an
appendix in _Beyond MIDI: The Handbook of Musical Codes_ by
Eleanor Selfridge-Field. There is also a link to the UnicodeMusic
web page at http://www.unicode.org/unicode/alloc/Pipeline.html.
I'm a non-technie so what I'm looking for are general comments
about the inclusion of characters and how they should be handled.
I will attempt to answer whatever questions arise from a musician's
perspective. Hardcore technical comments/questions should probably
be directed to Rick McGowan of the Unicode Technical Committee to
whom I am greatly indebted for his willingness to guide me in this
proposal and his knowledge of music.
I look forward to your comments.
