Why not propose a whole set of fruits? How about animals -- there's an
Animal font out there somewhere... But why do this?

The purpose of encoding a bell is rather clearly generic, and is a legacy
from common ding-ding TTY bells. What is the purpose of encoding an apple
without any contrasting fruit?
