Japanese RTL

I agree Ken's summary.
We Japanese use RTL in very rare cases now.

Another exception is word on vehicles. When we write word such as
company name on car, we write it in 'top to bottom' order.
So if you look left side of car, it is written in LTR order.
But if you look right side of car, it is written in RTL order.

It is not easy to read RTL word in such case for us.
I personally do not agree this custom, but this is widely accepted.

Maybe kana and kanji are less RTL than Latin characters.
