I know that C-DAC in Pune, India produce small wireless devices with LCD
displays such as pagers capable of receiving and displaying messages in any
of the Indian scripts (as well as fonts specifically designed for displaying
these scripts on pagers etc.). Presumably it would not be too difficult to
further develop devices like this to make them capable of displaying glyphs
for
all the scripts in the BMP. Perhaps developers of Wireless Application
Protocol (WAP) devices should be looking at what the Indians have already
accomplished.

(Now how do you input all these different characters on a mobile phone??
....)
