RE: Unicode under fire again

        I sense impending laughter!

        Let's get this straight:

This is a claim that Unicode cannot navigate its way through the
political sensitivities of the East Asian peoples. It is coming from
someone who refers to those peoples as "Orientals".

I quote: "Unicode recently announced version 3.1, which - breaking
out of the two Plane Zero octets they had originally allowed themselves in
version 3.0, with 49,194 characters - would add another two octets and
another 44,946 characters to the scheme, for a grand total of 94,140."

Taiwan is listed as having adopted Chinese characters.

        Etc., etc., ad nauseam.

        Another day, another quack.

        Where does it all lead?

"Hastings been experimenting with workarounds, which we believe can
be language- and device-compatible for all nationalities. However, this is
presently being done on our principals' personal time, and thus we do not
have firm timelines for releases."

This is just an advertisement for an as-yet-nonexistent product!

        'Nuff said.
