Good for you Europeans. We foolish Americans have no dollar SIGN on our banknotes (I think), only the WORD "dollar".
Our coins are also screwy. We have the amount in words, not in figures. And the jerks who designed the Susan B. Anthony $1 coin (now only seen in change from vending machines) should have (but didn't!!) design it after the 50-yen coin, the one with a hole in it! The $1 coin looks too much like a 25$B!q(B coin!! (Score one for the Japanese; I needed to SJIS my cent sign!! I typed "sento" into my IME. The Americans don't have a cent sign but the Japanese do!! Ha ha ha!!!)
Now there is a new $1 coin. It is the color of brass for easier ID (the regular quarter is the color of steel).
