Feera: Ancient Script of the Afar

I've stumbled into Feera this evening and have added it to my list of things
to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. Now if only I could read french:

Certainly elements of the script are familiar but it is distinct from
neighboring writing systems like Osmanya or Ethiopian cursive which share
a few common glyphs.

Does anyone here no more about it?
