But we didn't consider the period to be an important Exemplar Character
(now written with capital letters) in English or French, which use it
for abbreviations. But geresh and gershayim are different; you can't
write "Jeep" (ג׳יפ) (or "giraffe" for that matter) without 'em. So I
would agree that they are important.
