    ASCII isn't the only hack candidate. Devanagari and Malayalam would be
    worth considering for an Indic script - this approach may provide Uniscribe
    support! With a bit of luck, the text might still be intelligible if
    rendered by a non-hack font. There are several Lanna hack fonts around that
    use Thai for the base characters and mostly ASCII for the subscript
    consonants.
