Open System Preferences, click on International, click on the Input
Menu tab, scroll to the bottom of the list and enable the Unicode Hex
Input key layout. Then if you select this layout in the text input
menu (along the right side of the menu bar), you can hold down the
option key and type UTF16 code units in hexadecimal (e.g. opt-4, opt-
e, opt-0, opt-0 for 0x4E00).
