    Dear All,

The European Standards Committee CEN has posted a new (and hopefully final)
draft for a CWA (CEN Workshop Agreement) by the CEN Workshop on Functional
Multilingual Extensions to European Keyboard Layouts (WS/MEEK) for public
    review on their website at
    http://www.cen.eu/cenorm/sectors/sectors/isss/activity/ws+meek.asp.

I'd encourage you to comment on the draft. The comments should be sent to
the WS secretariat at meek@postit.csc.fi (by 9 November 2009). In addition,
as the chair of the workshop, I'll pick up any comments made on this list.
(I apologise to those who receive this note on more than one list, but I
don't know of a better way.)

The extensions have also been the subject of a BOF at IUC 29, and liaison
has been established with ISO/IEC JTC1/SC35 "User Interfaces" and the
Unicode Consortium. In addition to the Workshop and its Project Team
meetings, an open meeting was held in Brussels on 3 September 2009. If
anyone attending IUC 33 would like to discuss the draft with me, I'll be at
the conference on Thursday and Friday.

The final meeting of the Workshop will take place on 17 November at 14.30
Brussels time in order to facilitate non-European participation, of which at
least Canadian is to be expected. This will be an on-line meeting utilizing
a new CEN system. Further details will be provided in early November.

A number of changes have been made to the previous draft. Among them, the
positioning of the activities in ISO/IEC JTC1/SC35 has been improved.

    Sincerely, Erkki
