Biography

Michael McKenna - Sybase, Inc.

Michael McKenna has been a specialist in the field of globalization of applications and client/server environments for over nine years. In addition, he is a licensed professional engineer and has a background in application design, database internals, distributed bibliographic systems, test engineering, and ethnographic research.

Michael is a Globalization Strategist at Sybase, Inc. In this role he is currently responsible for globalisation consulting and product management of the international aspects of enterprise portal and e-commerce solutions. In the past, he has been responsible for the development of European and Asian releases of Adaptive Server Enterprise and built up the Power Builder development team at the Sybase Asian Development Centre in Singapore. His team, the Global Products Group, is responsible for the internationalization architecture of all enterprise information management software that Sybase markets.

Michael has been active in standards activities, spoken at over twenty conferences and seminars on three continents, has produced curriculum and taught classes on software engineering for the University of California, and has been an invited speaker at a European Commission Technology Workshop.
