Case Study: Adding Unicode Support to the Oracle ODBC DriverMichael Gianatassio & Shige Takeda- Oracle Corporation
ODBC is one of the most prevalent API's used for connecting Windows based applications to a database. In this session we will first review how Microsoft has defined Unicode support to function in an ODBC environment. We will then focus on what we learned, from a development point of view, about converting the Oracle8 ODBC driver to be Unicode compliant. In closing we will examine how adding Unicode support impacted the performance of the ODBC driver. |
