"Locale" is a mechanism used by the Web, Java, and many other
technologies to establish user interface language, data presentation
formats, and
for tuning application behavior to the cultural requirements of each
user. Many application developers make use of locales and then presume
their applications now have correct international behavior.
How well do Locales work in actual practice? Our panel of experts will
discuss their differing views on Locales, how Locales should and should
not be applied, whether they work as expected, and whether alternatives
should be considered. The panel format provides a forum for audience
discussion that builds on the content of related papers being delivered
at this conference.
