        As I understand it, the fact that people are implementing and using
this stuff does not make anything set in stone. In order for an IDN system
to work, it must be implemented in all the client systems, or else it will
not resolve the encoding into the desired name. The IETF is trying to solve
this problem, which was tricky enough before all these companies started
selling "international domain names" (despite being told directly by the
IETF that they were not ready) and then coming to the IDN workgroup and
saying "we use this so you have to support it". I haven't been following,
so I'm not sure how far the IDN WG has progressed, but they do get my
sympathy.
