The same genus.

I know people who are so unfamiliar with plants that they would never make
the connection. I also remember as a child hearing other children calling
the club suit "clovers".

Michael's point about the leaflet tips is a good one, so that a single
glyph could not be used both for playing cards and for shamrocks.
